J & N Interiors’ Caroline Brooks, says that carpet has been making a spectacular comeback of late. “People realize that it can make a room much more luxurious, but it can also give a range of practical benefits too.” Says Caroline, J & N Interior’s Manager. “These include heat insulation and noise absorption, making a much more relaxing home environment. It can also absorb pollutants, giving better indoor air quality.”

After the recent trend for natural and berber style carpeting or wood and laminate flooring, luxury carpets are making a dramatic reappearance. “Clients now want some luxury and comfort back in their homes,” says Caroline. “High content wool mix twists and Saxony style carpets are becoming increasingly popular and people are becoming bored of the neutral colours of the last couple of years, so colour is also becoming increasingly widespread, particularly shades of reds, greens and blues.”

Also increasing in popularity is vinyl flooring. Caroline continues: “There are now some extremely realistic looking patterns and designs – ceramic tile and wood effects being the most popular. Our customers are tending to use them in kitchens and bathrooms as they can transform a room in such a short period of time – maximum impact and minimum effort whilst being extremely practical to maintain.”
